Benefits of Mulching

PLANT HEALTH
By removing sticks, debris, and trash and installing our high-quality commercial grade mulch, you will provide nutrients to your plants which help them to thrive throughout the year. This works by improving moisture retention in and around plant roots, regulating soil temperature, and decomposing into nutrients.

APPEARANCE
By cleaning up your mulch beds or installing new mulch, our service will certainly transform the look of your home. We take pride in providing high-quality commercial mulch, clean edges, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure that your property looks its best throughout the year

WEED CONTROL
Installing high-grade mulch on your garden beds helps to reduce weed growth by providing a thick barrier between the surface and soil. This helps to prevent weeds receiving sunlight or penetrating the surface which inhibits their growth, resulting in cleaner, healthier mulch beds for your plants!
Frequently Asked Questions
-
When is the best time to schedule a yard cleanup? The best time for a yard cleanup depends on your needs. Many homeowners schedule cleanups in the fall to remove leaves and prepare for winter or in the spring to clear away debris left behind by snow and storms. However, yard cleanups can be scheduled any time of year to refresh your property and keep it looking its best.
-
How do I prepare my yard for a cleanup service?Preparing your yard is simple. Remove any personal items, outdoor furniture, or decorations from areas that need to be cleaned. Let us know if there are any fragile plants or structures to be aware of. If you have pets, ensure they are secured indoors or away from the service area during the cleanup.
-
How long does a yard cleanup typically take? The time required for a yard cleanup depends on the size of your property and the amount of debris. For most residential yards, our team can complete the cleanup within a few hours. Larger properties or heavily overgrown areas may take longer, but we always aim to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
-
Do you offer seasonal yard cleanups, like for fall or spring?Yes, we provide seasonal yard cleanups tailored to the specific needs of fall and spring. In the fall, we focus on leaf removal, preparing your property for winter, and preventing issues like clogged gutters or mold. In the spring, we clear away winter debris, refresh flower beds, and get your yard ready for the growing season. Seasonal cleanups are a great way to keep your property in top shape year-round.
-
What happens to the yard waste after the cleanup? All yard waste, such as leaves, branches, and other debris, will be collected and properly disposed of. We take care of hauling everything away, so you don’t have to worry about bags of debris or trips to the landfill. Some materials may even be composted or recycled to reduce environmental impact.
-
What does a yard cleanup include?A yard cleanup service typically involves removing leaves, branches, and other debris from your property to restore a clean and tidy appearance. It can also include tasks like trimming overgrown plants, edging garden beds, and hauling away yard waste. Our service ensures your outdoor space is ready for entertaining, seasonal changes, or just day-to-day enjoyment.
-
Do you handle lawn edging and trimming as well?Yes! We generally include lawn edging/trimming in our lawn care contracts to keep your lawn looking its best! By edging your lawn, we ensure it maintains clean, defined edges which give your property an unmatched look.
-
Do I need to be home during the service? No, usually we do not require that clients are home during our lawn care services, specifically for scheduled mowing. However, it is important that we have access to gates or fences that may be necessary to complete our service! If we are unable to access your property on the day of your service, you will need to contact our team!
-
How long does each service visit typically take? The length of your service visits will vary depending on the size of your property, existing grass height, and any obstacles we may encounter. Generally, our service takes anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours. For smaller properties under half an acre, we are usually done within about an hour. However, if your property is larger than a half acre, it can take upward of 90 minutes to mow and edge your lawn!
-
How often should I have my grass cut?We generally recommend that you have your lawn mowed either weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your desired appearance and budget. If you choose weekly mowing, the total cost for your lawn care contract will be higher, but you are likely to see much better results with your lawn throughout the year. With bi-weekly mowing, your total lawn care cost will be lower, but your lawn will likely grow to an unhealthy height between services. If you have any questions about which lawn care schedule is best for you, reach out to our team today!
-
How can I prepare before a lawn care service? Before we come to your property for a lawn care service, we have a few requests to make the process convenient and efficient. First, please remove any debris from your lawn that could interfere with our equipment such as kids toys, garden decorations, construction materials, or any other large items in your lawn. Further, please ensure your sprinklers do not run on the day of our service. A wet lawn can hamper our ability to properly cut your grass, possibly leading to damage!
-
To what length will my grass be cut?We will generally cut your lawn to between 2.5 - 4 inches, but this depends on the season and your grass type! In the spring we will cut your grass closer to 2.5 - 3.5 inches, because when temperatures are lower it can bear a shorter length. As temperatures get hotter in the summer, we will keep your lawn at 3 - 4 inches long to provide protection against the sun. By following this length schedule, we ensure that your grass appears green and lush throughout the year!

How long does a mulching job usually take? The length of your mulching service can vary drastically depending on if you want a simple cleanup, or a brand new mulch installation. For mulch bed cleanups, they can usually take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size and condition of your beds. For new mulch beds, it can often take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to cleanup the existing area, edge the beds, and install new mulch, however this can take longer for large projects!
-
What types of mulch do you offer? We offer a variety of different mulches including popular options such as double-shredded hardwood mulch, brown mulch, black mulch, and red mulch. We also offer organic mulch such as straw or hay to promote the health of your lawn!
-
How often should I install new mulch? We typically recommend that you have your garden beds mulched once or twice a year, depending on your budget and desired appearance. The most common time to install new mulch is in the spring to refresh your beds after winter. If you decide to replace your mulch twice a year, we recommend installing again in the fall to insulate your plants for the winter. By choosing a mulching schedule and sticking to it, you can maximize the appearance of your landscape throughout the year!
-
Do you remove old mulch before applying new mulch? It depends on the state of your garden beds, but we will often have to remove old mulch in order to install new mulch. This is because old, decomposing mulch can prevent water penetration and air circulation, impacting the health of your plants. However, if the old mulch layer is still relatively intact, we can often just apply a new layer of mulch on top!
-
To what depth do you install new mulch? For most of our mulching jobs, we typically apply 2-3 inches of mulch to provide the best protection, nutrients, and appearance for your landscape without over-mulching. By staying within this range, we maximize weed suppression and moisture retention to improve the health of your plants. If we apply a thicker layer of mulch, it can suffocate your plants and cause long-term damage.
-
Do you offer shaping and detailed trimming as part of your service?Yes, our trimming services include precise shaping to ensure your bushes and shrubs look their best. Whether you’re looking to maintain a clean, natural appearance or prefer a more manicured, tailored look, we can customize our approach to meet your preferences. Proper shaping not only enhances curb appeal but also promotes healthier, more balanced growth for your plants.
-
How do I prepare my property for a bush and shrub trimming service?Preparing your property for a trimming service is simple and helps us complete the job efficiently. Remove any decorations, lawn furniture, or obstacles near the bushes and shrubs to give our team clear access. If you have any irrigation systems or sprinkler heads near the plants, let us know so we can avoid damaging them. Clearing away debris like toys or tools ensures a smooth and hassle-free service.
-
How often should bushes and shrubs be trimmed? The frequency of trimming depends on the growth habits of your bushes and shrubs, as well as the climate in your area. Most shrubs benefit from being trimmed at least once or twice a year to maintain their shape and prevent overgrowth. Fast-growing bushes may need more frequent attention to avoid encroaching on walkways, windows, or other parts of your property. We can work with you to create a schedule tailored to your specific landscaping needs.
-
Can overgrown shrubs cause problems for my property?Yes, overgrown shrubs can lead to a range of issues for your home and outdoor areas. They can block pathways, windows, and driveways, making them less functional or even unsafe. In some cases, branches can grow too close to your home, causing damage to siding, gutters, or fencing. By trimming your shrubs regularly, we can help prevent these problems while maintaining the functionality and appearance of your outdoor space.
-
When is the best time of year to trim bushes and shrubs? The ideal time to trim bushes and shrubs in Egg Harbor Township depends on the local climate and the specific growth patterns of your plants. Generally, late winter or early spring is the best time, as it allows shrubs to recover quickly and direct their energy toward healthy new growth. However, with the warm summers and seasonal weather in Egg Harbor Township, light maintenance trims can be performed throughout the growing season to keep your landscape neat and attractive. Our team is familiar with the area's conditions and can create a trimming schedule tailored to your plants' health and your property's appearance.
-
Can trimming bushes and shrubs help with pest control?Yes, regular trimming can help reduce pest problems in your yard. Overgrown bushes and shrubs can create a haven for insects, rodents, and other pests. By cutting back excess growth and removing dead or decaying branches, you minimize the spaces where pests can hide or nest. Keeping your plants healthy and properly maintained is a proactive step in protecting your landscape and property from infestations.
-
How do you ensure plants will thrive after installation? We carefully select plants that are well-suited to your property’s soil type, sunlight, and climate. During installation, we prepare the soil, add necessary nutrients, and plant at the proper depth to promote healthy growth. How long will my sod installation take? The time required for sod installation depends on the size of your yard and the amount of preparation needed. For an average residential property, the process typically takes one day, including site preparation, soil grading, and laying the sod. Larger properties or those requiring extensive grading and debris removal may take longer, but we always prioritize efficiency while maintaining high-quality results.
-
When is the best time of year to install sod?Sod installation is most successful during cooler months, such as spring or fall, when moderate temperatures and consistent rainfall help the sod establish strong roots. In Egg Harbor Township, fall’s mild weather is ideal for minimizing stress on the grass and giving it time to settle before the growing season. That said, sod can also be installed during summer with careful watering and maintenance to ensure it thrives even in warmer conditions.
-
What are the benefits of installing sod instead of seeding?Sod offers an instant transformation, providing a fully grown, lush lawn immediately after installation. Unlike seeding, which requires weeks or months to establish, sod minimizes the risk of erosion and weed growth, giving you a clean and uniform appearance right away. It also establishes roots more quickly, making it a practical choice for high-traffic areas or properties that need fast results, such as newly built homes or commercial properties.
-
How do I prepare my yard for sod installation? To prepare your yard for sod installation, you’ll need to clear the area of personal items, such as outdoor furniture, toys, or decorations, and ensure any debris is removed. If you have an irrigation system, check that it is functioning properly to water the new sod effectively. Don’t worry about removing old grass or weeds, we’ll handle that as part of our preparation process, which also includes grading the soil for optimal sod placement.
-
Can you replace patches of damaged grass with sod?Absolutely! If your lawn has bare or damaged areas caused by foot traffic, pets, or poor drainage, we can install sod in those specific spots to restore its appearance. Our targeted patch repair service is quick and efficient, blending seamlessly with your existing lawn to create a healthy, even surface.
-
How long does it take for sod to establish roots?Sod typically begins to establish shallow roots within 10-14 days of installation, provided it’s watered properly and kept free from heavy foot traffic. Deep roots take around 4-6 weeks to develop, depending on the time of year and the care it receives. During this period, consistent watering and avoiding activities like mowing or walking on the sod are critical to ensuring it takes hold and grows strong.
